2021 Kite Festival

2021 Kite Festival

In conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of Carindale, Stones Corner and Balmoral, we participated in this year’s kite festival at Murrarie Recreation Ground 1238 Wynnum Rd Murrarie on 16th May 2021. Rotarian Julie Sultman while visiting one of the aforementioned Clubs had put “our hand” up to help out and drew the Kids Face Painting kiosk as to how we would help out. I don’t know anyone at the club who has done Kids Face Painting so we had no point of reference. To her credit Julie managed the bumpin/bump out and the Face Painting with aplomb.

Julie’s team – Shane and Leanne Cowan, their daughter Jaydon, Ros Kelly, Robyn O’Connor, her friends June and Teagan Darvill, Kerry Young, her friend Nerida Bishop and me all pulled it together and raised $447.00 through donations for Rotary projects.

The queue of excited children was 12 deep most of the day. The painted faces were paraded by the kids and their parents with great pride and many of the artists were surprised with their efforts.

Meanwhile hundreds of people attended to fly their kites eat at the sausage sizzle and enjoy the warm sunshine.  It was an enjoyable day for all concerned.
