Partnering to aid the Rotary Bushfire and Drought Appeals

One of the easiest things to do as a Rotarian is to support other Clubs projects. It also is one of the most fun ways to be a rotarian as you don’t have to be involved in the hard work of the project just pay your money turnup and enjoy.

And this is just what a bunch of us did last Saturday night. The Rotary Club of Archerfield in conjunction with the Indonesian Community of Brisbane and a variety of Rotarians from various clubs turned on an Indonesian Buffet with Indonesian entertainment for a full house at the assembly hall of the Australian International Islamic College at Durack with all funds going to the Rotary District 9630 Bushfire and Drought Appeal.

We had many speakers most notably the Consul General for Indonesia, a Feral Senator, the local Councillor the President of Rotary Club of Archerfield to name a few. A major raffle was also run with a silent auction. There we so many raffle prizes I lost count but our table was able to claim 2 of the prizes and I missed out by 1 number twice. The silent auction was popular with an Apple Ipad the most popular item auctioned.

The Buffet was excellent with a variety of Indonesian dishes. Whilst we enjoyed dinner we were entertained by dancers and musical groups. It was a great evening of fellowship and the funds raised will be directed to farmers and towns suffering bushfire and drought without middle men.
